Calvert Marine Museum

There is lots of boating and seaside stuff to do here in Solomons, but if you like history, then the Calvert Marine Museum is the place for you.

The exhibition hall is full of interesting nautical tidbits including a replica of a 40 foot megatooth shark.
As well they have a marsh walk, otters in an outdoor aquarium and a woodcarving shop where you can observe work in progress by skilled wooden boat builders.
They also have a lighthouse from nearby Drum Point that was relocated to the museum in 1975.
Finally they have a oyster house that you can tour through and see just how the oysters are shucked and prepared for market.
All in all, a great way to spend an afternoon.
